Rudri Pick Up Weir, one of the oldest education projects of the state, was built in 1912-15 in Rudri of Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh. Earlier, 0.2 megawatt electricity generation was also started from water here, currently it is closed. Another name of Rudri Barrage is Dr. Khubchand Baghel. A canal was taken out from Rudri Dam in the year 1912. Due to stoppage of water of this canal, there was a canal stagnation. Then in 1920, Mahatma Gandhi ji came to Dhamtari for the first time and won the Satyagraha. Dhamtari and its surrounding area is connected with religion and spirituality since ancient times.
