Gangrel Dam is also known by the name of Pandit Ravishankar Jalashay. It was constructed in 1978-79. There are a total of 14 spillway gates in the dam which are built between two mountains. Along with religious tourism, there is also an irrigation project. This is the longest and largest dam in the state. The water holding capacity of Gangrel Dam is 15000 Cusec and this dam also has an electricity capacity of 10 Megawatt. Gangrel Dam is located at a distance of 15km from Dhamtari city. During monsoon, the closed and surrounding areas become the centre of special attraction for the people due to their unique natural beauty, greenery, animals and thrill.
